An industrial font inspired by French industrial design.

After a visit to Paris and looking mostly at typefaces I was amazed how much is still preserved from all sorts of eras: whether it is the 1950s or the 80s, you will find a shopfront matching the period. And the lettering that goes with it, often a bit faded or crumbling, but always unique. I then started redrawing some of those I had photographed. I also like French industrial design and this typeface is something that could be stamped out of metal. It’s also slightly eccentric, one of the traits that makes French design stand out. I named it ‘Usine’, French for factory.
